| When we first tasted this plum jam we were convinced it must
have been made with honey and spices, but were stunned to find it’s made only of
big, red-fleshed, delectable mariposa plums, organic sugar, and a little lemon
juice!
Volume: 6oz
Why it’s on the Slow Food Ark of Taste
The word “mariposa” means butterfly in Spanish and this jam
is so flavorful and sweet, we think it’ll make your heart flutter. Mariposa
Plums are originally from Pasadena, California. They started out as a seedling
chosen by Jennie Benedict Thompson in 1923 and became well loved for having all
the characteristics of the perfect plum. Rich, juicy, deep red flesh surrounded
by glossy, tart skin and with only a small, easy to free pit. Juicy and with a spicy, lingering flavor they
are a big hit when eaten off the tree or cooked.
The Blue Chair Fruit team is certifiably obsessed with jam.
Not only do they make their small-batch jam, preserves, and marmalades in
special copper kettles, they have classes, books, and clubs that generously
share their artisanal secrets. We are very excited to share this marmalade with
you.
Health Benefits
Plums are valued for their high content of vitamins C, A,
and fiber – where do you think prunes - which are dried plums - get all their nutritional benefits?! In
all seriousness, jams made from fresh, unprocessed, unfrozen fruit, untouched
by synthetic sweeteners or syrups are just better for your body and your peace
of mind.
Uses
This sweet, spicy jam tastes good everywhere! Here are some
ideas:
- The mariposa plum flavor skyrocket your PB&J to the next
level
- It tastes fantastic on a turkey sandwich that needs a fruity
kick
- Shaken up with your favorite Italian vinaigrette recipe and
drizzled on baby spinach, goat cheese, and walnuts
- We couldn’t help eating a few spoonfuls on it’s own while
adding it to some greek yogurt
